Introduction

Stockholm is the largest city and capital of Sweden. In 13th century, Stockholm has been the political and economic centre of Sweden. Stockholm is situated at the point where the vast Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. The city is said to have been founded by Birger Jarl. In The 17th century saw Sweden rise into a major European power, reflected in the development of the city of Stockholm. Stockholm had changed once more, knights, Royal emissaries, and merchants rich enough, had palaces and large castles constructed, such as the House of the Knights and the Royal Palace. Stockholm now had several quarters, and immigration into the city increased. During the 19th century, Stockholm had re-built its leading economic role. New industries emerged, hospitals, railway stations, post offices and Stockholm transformed into an important trade and service centre, as well as a key gateway point within Sweden. ,
